PROGRAMME FOR ART SPACES. COMUNIDAD DE MADRID 2011-2012To dynamize the press presentation of the 2011-2012 programme, we were comissioned by the Subdirección General de Museos of the Comunidad de Madrid to produce an action that referenced the content without distracting from the presentation itself.
We prepared a series of chromatic still-lives and corresponding headings, to assemble in real time with elements that related to the content of the programme as it was being explained. In parallel, we drew the names corresponding to each section (Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo - CA2M-, Salas de Exposiciones, Red Itiner, Museos), using each of the colours that linked to it's still life.
Some cellophane-wrapped candy related to the work of Félix González-Torres (the collective exhibition Contarlo todo sin saber cómo lnked to the cuban artist will take place in CA2M); a high-heel shoe referenced the Juan Gatti show in Sala Canal de Isabel II; the sheriff star was a word-play on Se busca comisario (Curator wanted) the call for submissions of Sala de Arte Joven; a facsimile of the Gazeta de Madrid linked to the Centro de Interpretación Nuevo Baztán, etc.
Some elements showed their meaning directly while others allowed a double meaning... together they wove a chromatic composition that accompanied the words of Ferrán Barenblit (Director of CA2M), Isabel Rosell (General Director of Archives, Museums and Libraries) and Francisco Javier Hernández Martínez (Viceconsejero de Cultura of the Comunidad de Madrid).
